A genius of a Sprint phone rep had me go into Market, cancel individually all of the updates trying to download. He thought one of them was hanging me up and he was correct.
After determining which one it was - (he'd had troubles with it himself) - we uninstalled it. We then tried updating the others and they went perfectly. Then we re-installed WordsWithFriends, the offender, and I'll monitor it to see if it happens again.
