Cant get on 3G

I am running a Samsung Y Duos on ATT ST. I cannot get anything faster than edge (120kbps down) so its pretty much unusable. I have another phone on ATT ST so I swapped SIMs. The problem stays with the phone, so its not a ST/SIM issue.
I have tried various APNs with no difference. The 2G check box in settings/mobile networks not selected. I checked my settings with *#*#4636#*#*and WCDMA pref is selected.

I am out of ideas:(
 
Did you buy it in Hong Kong, or Singapore, etc? You've got a phone that was intended to be sold and used in Asia. It does not have the USA 3G bands used by AT&T. That's why you're getting slow EDGE service only.
 
Thanks guys! I think you are right about the phone model and compatibility. It was purchased in the US, but it was my mistake. I was looking at the correct phone but saw this one with the very similar model and bought it.

Is there anyway to mod this or are the frequency range unchangeable? So as I understand it this should work on tmobile?
