Help can't get to web site

I want to access a webcam by entering the ip address and specific port number into my browser--for example: 192.168.0.5:85 It works from my pc running Firefox. I tried it from my android phone w/chrome and it doesn't work--just blank tab. Any idea what's up with that?

Nope don't have Chrome on the PC and I don't have firefox on the phone. Hopefully someone will know what's happening w/o me having to do all that to trouble shoot it.

Yea this example only works locally on my Wifi network. Outside the house I have my router set up to route incoming traffic on that port to the webcam. I'll test that after confirming it'll work locally.

Some of these webcams require Adobe Flash, for Android try Dolphin Browser + Jetpack.

That should work, provided your home IP address doesn't change. In fact sometimes you might even have to get a static home IP address from your ISP, and they'll probably charge extra for that.

Thanks for the advise. I found out Chrome was blocking my attempts to access the camera on port 85. It seems it only allows me to access sites on port 80. I never could figure out how to fix that but I tried using the browser simply called 'Browser" that came installed on the phone--it worked. I can access the camera from my android phone over wifi or 3G. I hate that I have to do so much fiddling then find out some software like Chrome is blocking my actions w/o telling me--they probably think they're saving me from myself.

Now adding to this I've been unable to access the camera from the office using Chrome and IE too. As locked down as they have web access at that place I'm betting they prevent us from accessing sites on ports other than 80 but I'm not sure--it doesn't come up with the usual blocked page--just fails to work. I can access another webcam on port 80 so it's not like they're blocking traffic to my ip. I'm hoping they aren't blocking it as using my phone really uses up my data fast.
