Help can't get update applied

Hi all
I have an Acer tablet which helpfully advises me I need an update, downloads a whopping 356 MB and then doesn't apply it and when I look in the Downloads app there is nothing there. Or tells me the update is corrupt and stops the action. I have tried doing a factory reset (grumble grumble) so all my apps have disappeared and I really don't want to reapply all my backed up data until I can get the update to apply. Is there a PC interface (like itunes or Kies) that I can use to manage the update for my tablet?

Is your wifi connection stable during the download?

It took many tries to get mine applied as well. I don't know if the problem is with android or where acer is storing the updates but it's annoying to download 350mb several times.
