Root Can't install custom roms?!

Hey

I have a HTC Desire hd running 2.3.5 gingerbread, and I recently rooted it.

I would like to get a new Rom on it like a cyanogen mod or jelly time.

I have tried installing roms via Rom manager and then when I restart my phone ( I flash the Rom via clockwork) the phone stays on the HTC boot screen.

Then I tried flashing it via fastboot. I put my phone in fastboot mode and did the cmd, fastboot flash boot boot. Img, then after it finished writing the Rom, it restarted then got stuck in a cwm bootloop, I using my backups but to no avail, I managed to fix my phone by writing the Rom from fastboot.

So anyone know why I can't get custom roms on my phone?

Did you go for full S-OFF, or just the bootloader unlock via HTC?

sounds like you are htcdev unlocked,and not successfully flashing the boot image.

that is for the rezound,but the basic info applies. just use a DHD specific recovery.

I'm an android noob so don't really understand the how to achieve a s off bootloader. I don't mind staying s on just want to know if I can put a Rom on my phone as I can hated gingerbread. I used a HTC easy unlock tool to unlock the phone btw.

By the way, I already have clockwork mod already on my phone so do I have to flash a recovery or can I skip that step?

the directions have you boot a recovery,not flash it. you can go to your permant recovery to wipe,backup,and flash the new rom if you wish

awsome! glad you got it working

unfortunately,my inspire is not may daily phone,so im not very familiar with available roms. i have used jellytime on it in the past,and it worked well. you can find it and some others in the DHD section on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765

Last time I flashed this was four months ago, and it was nice and stable for me.
