Root Can't make a Nandroid backup

Install ROM Manager and flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Then scroll down and flash SPRecovery, and THEN flash ClockworkMod AGAIN. Then you should be able to make your backup.

Try accessing recovery with x+power instead of ROM Manager, just to make sure that CMRecovery "stuck".

Yea, I get the same thing, and when I press vol + and the camera button, it pulls up the recovery mode, but there's no mention of any "nandroid" or "backup" on the list

That screen means you only have the stock recovery installed. You still need to install SPR or CWR.

If you get the simple screen with just the Exclamation point inside a triangle, you do not have an alternate recovery - you have the STOCK recovery - and thus you now need to obtain an alternate recovery in order to load ROMs, make manual backups, etc.
