Cant make calls please advise or help me

Helpppp when I to make a phone call, I cannot hear anything but the phone rings as normal at the other end for the person I called. I cannot hear them they cannot hear me. I get a bleep like the phone has disconnected but the call still shows connected
When I hang up the signal meter changes from 4 bars to a circle with the bar through then if i try to immediately use the phone again I get a "not registered on network" message.
sometimes it will return to normal in a minute or two and I can make a call sometimes its days before it returns to normal.
I asked a local phone shop to look at it and they did the following:
Changed the ariel
Rooted the bloody phone (without my permission)
Reinstalled sofftware
tried a new motherboard
All without success
Im at the end of my tether sometimes its fine for a week then boom .
It makes no difference whether I reset (turn on and off), hard reset (take battery out when its on) the shop also tried a factory reset.
Is there something i,m missing ??
Yes the sound is on. obviously I cant contact Samsung because the idiot repair shop rooted my phone , I only wanted them to check the settings to make sure it wasnt something simple.

So this started before or after the shop messed with your phone? And if it was before, what, if any changes occurred?
The fact that they rooted your phone without permission is really sketchy. They essentially voided your warranty and I'd be pretty upset with them. You may be SOL with all the "enhancements" they brought to your phone.

the phone not working was the reason I put it in the shop. I pop on the odd app, other than that no changes i dont mess about with my phone as i havent got a clue what i'm doing.
I know the shop voided my warranty and im so pissed off about that, its too late no mater how much i yell. the shop did all the changes in order to try and get the phone working but still no joy they gave it me back and when i got home i rebooted it and saw some pink "LE Fleur " garbage and when I googled it the result was my phone was rooted whatever that means, all I know is it void my warranty. all I meant them to do was check the settings were ok to see if anything had changed or needed to be altered. phone worked ok till i got a voicemail today and boom... I cant use the bugger again.
I dont need t know about rooting what ever is done is done its the phone call and no one can hear me etc.. internet and wifi is fine and works perfectly

I have a similar problem: evereything works on the phone except the phone! That is I can make and recieive calls but the calls are sketchy: Intermitant blanks, sometimes I can't hear and sometimes the caller can't hear. All the other models my family has works fine and only mine has trouble.
