Help Can't message/call certain contacts

My HTC Desire has all of a sudden decided to not text/call certain people with certain mobile number formats... It appears to only be contacts with mobile numbers from facebook.

I live in Australia, and we have mobile numbers such as 0400 000 000, doesn't matter about spaces or full stops. We have the international area code +61. I imported my facebook contact details, and have had no problem for over a month, until NYE, when I started getting "Unable to send message after multiple attempts". I have previous message history with them, but now it's not working. I try calling them, and it doesn't work. If I add a contact and I write their number, it works fine. The problem seems to be if it has +61, or 61 in it, but it shouldn't be causing these problems...

Any suggestions? I like having their facebook profile picture on there. I assume I can't create a contact, then link it, because then it imports their mobile number and overwrites the one I had for them?

I have had this problem also, for me the solution was to get people to edit the number on facebook as that was what was messing it up. For some reason it was dropping the + before the international code.

Agree it was Facebook related here as well. As I keep my contacts in Outlook it is not an issue for me though.

I've just noticed the same problem - Facebook drops the + sign at the beginning of all my contact's numbers, so I can't call or text them.
Annoyingly, the phone recognises their numbers as from the correct contacts when they call or message me, however.
Is there a fix or a patch or something to add the + back in again? I don't think I can message all of my FB friends and ask them to edit their profiles...

Like the others here I have a frustrating glitch with my HTC Desire 4G. After editing the contact picture for my brother it wont allow me to call him. He can call me and we can text each other but that's it. We have both contacted our service carriers and checked that we are not blocked from each other, we have both edited, deleted, re entered each others details into our phones and I have tried my SIM in another handset. The tech support from our carriers can't work it out either.

When I try to manually enter his number it defaults to his contact even though I have deleted it ! Like the others I have a feeling it is a facebook glitch as when I try to call him through facebook his number starts as 61 instead of +61 . . . ?

Any suggestions please ?
