Help Can't move apps to SD card

Adhoc11

Hi

I have a ferguson box (fbox) for my tv it is basically an android box that turns your tv into a smart tv.

Unfortunately it only has 1.6gb of internal storage and I've run out of space for apps. I purchased a micro sd card but the move to sd card option is not available in settings. I tried cutting and pasting the app folder into sd card folder in file manager. The available space has updated but app hasn't actually appeared in sd card in app manager in settings. I'm guessing I've done this incorrectly. I tried dragging and dropping the app in file manager but there's no option?

Android version is 4.2.2

Even if I could find a way to download apps to sd card that would help

Tks

Unfortunately since Android 4.1, moving apps to sd* is no longer an option. If you want to try to move apps to your sd card you will first need to root your device and then uses something like Links 2 SD. I don't know if there are any methods to achieve root on that device or is the app will work either. Sorry.

*Moving an app to SD in earlier versions of Android moved only part of the app to the /sdcard partition which, if stored on internal memory, didn't really free anything up.

Moving apps to sd isn't supported in the base Android OS any more. Some manufacturers have added it back to some devices, so that's why your phone still has the ability. Unfortunately if you don't have "move to sd" in the menu of your TV device that means that it is not part of that device's operating system, and so you cannot change the download location (other, possibly, than the root tricks that Luna described).
