Help Can't play mps's

Lurker
Hi. Have a Galaxy S, Froyo 2.2 on T Mobile UK. For a couple of weeks now I've been unable to play any mp3 files using the standard music player or podcast using Podtrapper. A message comes up saying unregognised file type. If I reset my device it then can play them but today it even stopped playing my mp3 ringtones & I missed some calls because of this - any ideas what might be the problem? Only new software I downloaded was Astro but I've unistalled that - I thought that might have casue the problem but still no good.

Thanks for any help,

Phil G

dunno about playing using the standard music player (weird)
but setting your mp3 as a ringtone is a problem cause it seems that the phone can't find it after restarting it
if you wanna do that , you can either find an app for it (some apps for setting ringtones works fine) or do it the hard way [like me :P] and root your phone and copy your ringtones to the ringtones folder in /system/media
