Root cant re root help

ok so i followed a guide to un root and get back to stock, i did so that part is all good. im on 1.6 again on my g1. Im following through on cyan wiki and i cannot get telnet to connect....ive restarted several times and nada any ideas?

the telnetd also keep opening up the google search bar vs the contacts
