Hello friends of Android Forums.
I just bought this (unlocked) phone:
Amazon.com: HTC One X S720e Cellphone - No Warranty - White: Cell Phones & Accessories
To use on my local Claro Honduras carrier. I have used 3G without problems on this carrier (with the same SIM) in a couple of Nokia phones, a Galaxy S and HTC Evo 3D (the one i was using just one week ago)
Honduras - APN Changer and Data Sim Guide
Two days ago I got my phone and toke it to the Carrier agency to "cut" my regular SIM into a Micro SIM shape. After they cut it and try it on my phone it wasnt working, so they said they would put my number into a brand new SIM (another normal shape one they cut there). The result was the same, my phone coudnt read it, just says "No service". The carrier uses a 1900 band for 2G and 3G and the phone is supposed to be unlocked for 3G 850/900/1900/2100. Just as a test I bough a SIM from the competency company Tigo (850 band as far as i know) they did the same process, cut a new regular SIM intro a Micro SIM shape and the phone recognized the network instantly. I hate Tigo I wont ever use that company and I want to keep my same Claro number that i have been using for many years...
Then I went back to the Claro agency so they check the phone with the Tigo SIM working (maybe they could figure whats going on that way) and they said the phone could be blocked for the band they use (1900) and that a unlock code could be necesary.
So I contacted the seller asking for a unlock code, and they answer:
The phone is fully unlocked, we buy them that way from HTC, and all four GSM bands are available (850/900/1800/1900mhz). Did you ask your phone company to offer you another SIM card to test? Do they have any requirements when activating the SIM, or does the SIM have a pin requirement?
But as far as I know the SIM dosnt have any special requirments, and i have been using the same SIM on differentes phones.
There is a curious thing, if I go to the Sim Toolkit app, the phone actually show me the Claro features menu as usual wich makes me think the phone is actually reading the SIM but cant open the network for some reason
TLDR: My "unlocked" One X cant open the network of my 1900 band carrier, no idea why.
Please help. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to make sure I dont lose any little detail that could be useful.
Thanks in advance.
