cant receive text messages

So this started a week or so ago. I dont receive text messages unless I'm on a phone call. So until I call or receive a phone call... I don't get any messages. Once I do call.... i get like 5 messages.

Anyways... anyone else have this problem? Quite frustrating. Called sprint to reset network n stuff but still no resolution. They said to hard reset but I'm reluctant. Help?

yeah the hero is crap at texting. it's just one big bug. they should have put alot more time in developing this phone before releasing it. very disappointed in this phone. i'm just glad i had the good sense not to buy this piece of crap.

I have not had a problem with this as you describe on my Hero. I did have a similar issue with my last sprint phone. I don't know why it would do that. Seemed like the network could find your phone unless you were on a call and then you got everything.

I have had a problem with not receiving text on my Hero but I believe it's cause I keep messing with the settings. I simply turn the phone off and back on and i'm all good.

I like Handcent app for texting. I have yet to figure out how to "save" a text message or lock it.

I just found a messaging bug on my girlfriend's hero the other day. I sent her 8 text messages throughout the day and she didn't get any of them. I looked at other messages she had received from other people and they seemed fine. Everything worked on her phone. Turns out, because she's not exactly a "power user", she never deletes old message threads and had like 650 stored messages from me. I deleted the month-old thread of messages and then voila! she was able to receive messages again instantly.

I had the same problems when I was with Sprint. Voice mail too. It sometimes wouldn't update until I made or received a call. That's part of the reason I dumped them.
