Can't receive texts

I downloaded ChompSMS on my Galaxy S3 and really liked it, so I deleted the factory messaging app and AT&T Messages (which is what I was previously using).
Now, I'm not receiving any texts. People are receving the ones I send. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling, restarting, etc.
Also, my screen stopped rotating when the phone is turned sideways. Coincidence?

If you've deleted pre-installed apps you are presumably rooted. So have you tried reinstalling them?

If you took a backup first, just restore it (if not, first rule is that you always take a backup before changing system apps). Otherwise I expect someone in your device's All Things Root forum can help you find the original apps. If necessary you could reflash the ROM, which would replace them.

I can't think why this would affect screen rotation though.
