I have forgotten my password to unlock my samsung galaxy J3 6 mobile phone, so can't get into it.

Keep trying or reset it. I did the same just yesterday. I tried every permutation I could think of, then I just gave it a break and the correct passphrase came back to me after a couple of hours. Does it have a little reset hole in it to reset it even though you can't access Factory Reset?

Phones don't usually have a reset hole. If you need to reset the trick is to boot into recovery mode and do it from there. This involves booting the phone while pressing a couple of buttons, probably power + one of the volume keys at the same time (varies with manufacturer and I don't remember Samsung offhand).

A reset will wipe the device, so it's a last resort unless you have everything backed up.

If following the above advice, pay close attention to Option 2. If you reset the device without knowing the Google username/password for the primary account, you will lock yourself out due to Factory Reset Protection.

I did that locked out
