Cant reply to text from lock screen after Oreo update

I use Textra for texting and love the app. After the Oreo update, I can no longer respond to a text directly from the lockscreen. Also the preview only lasts a few seconds so I have to unlock the phone every time I receive a text.

Is this a feature in Oreo or an issue for Textra to fix?
 
Via reviews on textra from the Play Store, got more than a few with the same issue due to Android took away that feature in the 8.0 update.
 
Probably an OS security feature. I just tested on my Pixel (with a different SMS app) and while I could get a "reply" box from the lockscreen I had to unlock before I could type anything.

I'm actually a bit surprised that you ever could reply without unlocking though. Seems like a recipe for pocket texting to me.
