Help Can't restore stock

I have been using MIKs ROMs and need a stable GSM to take to Europe >I have tried two different "stock" ROM and failed on both, hung at the camera screen after flashing and rebooting.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you wipe everything before flashing?

* You might have to format /system back to ext2. It's under mounts and storage.

Formatting and wiping was all in the update package. If I wait long enough it goes into a reboot loop...

That didn't work. Cyanogen Mod7 does the same thing. I can only restore backups of my stock ROM or the later MIK roms...
Can not install a new stock ROM..
