Root Can't revert to stock

ah.
yes, you certainly can.

I may have to dig around a little to find a zip compatible with thunderc, but if you want to try something real quick, try to install zefie's xionia recovery.
download the attachment from the bottom of the first post here
xionia_cwma_12518.6_VM_recovery-signed.zip
put it on your sd card, in the root directory (main folder)
look for an install zip file option in recovery.
if it only offers "install update.zip" you can rename the zip file to update.zip with explorer and it should work.
if it installs, it'll work to install about any ROM. it handles both edify (new) and amend (old) script types in the rom and update zips.

ok.
there are a couple of ROMs currently being supported.
Harmonia, an optimized froyo rom on Android Central; and IHO variants, there are several flavors, all gingerbread, works in progress.
iho wiki here.

when you want to flash a rom, first make a backup (wouldn't hurt to do it again with xionia)
then go to mounts and storage in recovery,
format boot, cache, data, and system
press back, go to advanced, wipe dalvik-cache.
then install the rom.zip from the root of your sd card like you did xionia recovery.

If I try to do Backside, will my phone do the blackscreen thing since it's an older OpV and I have the Xonia recovery? I bought the phone on June 12th of this year.

I suggested IHO because one of the IHO devs fixed the kernel config to handle the newer screens a while back.
recent backside releases have worked fine on my newer OV.
some people complain about using xionia recovery, but I've never had issues with it. I think wiping everything like I said in the previous post avoids those leftovers-after-flash issues some users have.
Since the fastbootroot tool worked originally without you getting blackscreened, you have the older screen type and can install any rom you want.

I have Backside installed and am at the home screen.

Wow. Just... wow. If you can walk a 40 some year old mom of two through all this, you're pretty damn amazing bigsupersquid.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you're welcome.
if I ever find a market for remote tech support I'll be set. :D
nice avatar, btw... the new series has done well keeping to the old information I think. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I saw this a couple days ago and didn't have time to reply. Glad you got things worked out.

Had to post just to give the doctor who fans some love.
