PLEASE HELP!!! Got a MAXX recently (went from rooted D1), love them both. Am trying to root MAXX (2.3.6) but cannot, because sytem files are "read only" instead of "read/write". I searched for hours & found many with same problem (see attached), but no real specific answer. Drivers are installed & device is recognized w/ ADB. It will not install superuser apk. I cannot change from r/o to r/w. I now have Astro, Root Explorer, ES File Explorer, Terminal Emulator, Total Commander, Titanium Backup, Rom Manager Pro, and Superuser app (not su files, which is what I need). So you see I am in a catch-22 situation; cannot change files to read/write without Superuser permission, and can't install Superuser files because files are read only; just keep going in circles!
Is there a way to mount the system as r/w? Can I use one of my installed apps to do it? OR, can I use my old D1 sd card in the new MAXX (would MAXX then recognize superuser?), OR, can I transfer just the needed superuser files from the D1. Please explain/instruct in great detail (step by step), as I am pretty capable, but not very knowledgeable with some tech terms.
