Can't root tablet

dstone42

Lurker
I have a cheap Innovatek 10" 4GB tablet with specs from Settings->About Device:

Model Number: M1F
Android version: 2.3.3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: GRI40

I'm trying to root with the z4root app, but it tells me I have to enable USB Debugging.
When I go to Settings->Applications, it's missing the Development menu that USB debugging is supposed to be under.
All I have under the Application menu is "Unknown sources", Manage applications" and Running services".
I searched everywhere on the tablet for "USB debugging" but can't find it.

Is there an app I can install to allow me to enable USB debugging ?

I want to root my tablet to back up the Android 2.3, and because I want to try and install Android 3.2.

Anyone have any ideas, other than buying a different tablet ???

Thanks. :)

Thanks for the replies.

Some more specs from the box:
CPU: infoTMIC 1Ghz
Memory: 256MB
Nand Flash: 4GB (2GB is used by OS)
Resolution: 800*480
Power: 9V 3600mAh

I downloaded and installed Uberoid 9.1.2 on a 8GB MicroSD card, on my win7 pc, and tried to boot the tablet off the MicroSD card, but it still went straight to the Android 2.3 OS.

Is there anything else I can try???

It's a cheap slow tablet, only cost $99, if I can't upgrade it to Android 3.2, then I'll probably buy the Lenovo 10" tablet for $250, it has Android 3.2 pre-installed and is much faster.

Think you'll have to get a different tablet, to one where there is rooting information and ROMS available. Probably cost you more money though.
