Can't save camera photos to sd card

I have a Motorola G7 Power phone. It has 32 GB of internal storage. I just put in a 128 GB SD card. When I open the camera app and go to settings, there is an option for 'Save Settings - Storage' It is set to phone and it's greyed out so I can't change it to the SD card.

is the card formatted? if so did you do it on the phone or your pc? if not, then i would do it on your phone. it should be found under settings and then storage management.

I formatted it to phone. I've been able to move a lot of apps to it. Just can't save the pics to it.

well there's your answer. you formatted the card as internal(phone) so you can't have it both ways. right now your pictures are actually stored on your sd card. but the phone is now reading the card as internal(phone).

i'd be cautious though because the card can wear out faster and you could lose your content, if the card gets corrupted.

Hi,
I've got the same issue.
And yes I did formatted as internal.
And yes my Google photos storage setting is greyed out.
So what you stayed above says that Google photos is using the SD card to store photos if it's formatted as internal...
If that's true then when I look at what is on the SD card there are no photos or videos that Google photos has stored there.
Did you mean to say that if the SD card is formatted as internal that Google photos is already using the internal memory for storage of photos and videos?
If that's the case then can you please provide any other method or procedure for changing the SD card to portable which I assume will allow storage selection to be changed SD card while using Google photos?
Thanks
