Cant see thumbnails when connected PC, HELP!

These might be stupid questions but I need some answers.

1. When I connect my GS3 to my pc to transfer photos I cant see the pictures, all I see is the default thumbnails. This is very annoying! Is there something I'm doing wrong?

2. I created a hidden file in the "astro" file managing app on one of my old phones. I can go to that file and view whatever is in there, but when I connect my GS3 to my pc it doesn't show that hidden file on the "phone" or "SD" card. It's like it's not there. Why is that? It's driving me crazy! Then when I want to add any new photos to the hidden file I created in astro, that photo then shows in the gallery, but I dont want it to. How can I fix this?

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know but it happens to me too.
I'd like to have the cure too.
For #1.

I don't know about #2 other than to say get a current file hider app from the play store.
I guess... I don't know.

You are using Media Transfer Protocol and not Universal Mass Storage like you ddi in the past. UMS is not available in ICS+ and it cannot be done.

This is very annoying. ICS is the cause? Not sure cause wifes Nexus shows thumbs, even with now getting JB on Nexus. Also can not change details on songs....have to remove from phone\card to PC to change any 'details'. This has been since VZW sent out their last update.

I know you could just copy the file to the pc and then the thumbs show, but this is so annoying. I just want to be able to see the pictures, and do what I want with them. So this is a ICS problem and not a samsung thing? Does anyone know if it will be fixed with jellybean. I assume it's a samsung thing, cause every HTC phone i hook up the the pc via usb gives me the option to mount as hard drive. This is most annoying, I really wish there was a fix for this. This whole picture & gallery thing with my gs3 is just annoying. This is the one problem thats just driving me crazy about this phone.

It's not a Samsung thing and will not get fixed by JB. I already have JB and it is the same.

If HTC changed to enable it, it is their choice, but by default ICS+ do not offer that. May change in the future, but not with JB.

I think its to do with windows and sd storsge ive had this with various phones in the past but also with various flash sticks, sd cards etc..

The Motorola Razr Maxx with ICS has Mass Storage mode. This is indeed a choice that manufacturers make. And in the case of Samsung choosing not to give mass storage device mode was a bad choice.

In Fact this was the same choice made when it comes to moving apps to SD. Again on Motorola with ICS you can move apps to sd but on the Samsung Galaxy S3 you can not. Again a bad choice.

I am not cutting on the Samsung Galaxy S3. I just happen to own both.

But Motorola had to add it. Samsung did not remove anything, just decided to go with what Google provided.

Since there are so many of us that want this feature (and have probably spent HOURS researching the problem), why can't Samsung put out an update that allows us to view thumbnails when we are connected via USB to our computers?
