Root Can't seem to root my Galaxy S3

Hey guys. Brand new to the forums. I was thinking about upgrading my Galaxy S3 to the S6 because the bloatware on my S3 really was starting to bog down my phone, and then a couple of friends suggested I just root it and remove all the bloat manually. I looked up a tutorial here,

And got to the stage where he requested I pull out the battery which I did, but I can never seem to master it. And then upon closer inspection, I find out that none of the files he provides are listed for my carrier. So I don't know if that's the issue or not. I live in Canada, I'm with Wind mobile, I'm updated to 4.4.2 if any of this is any help, and my model number is sgh-t999v. I've never rooted my phone before and want to make sure I'm not gambling with anything. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just re-read your post, and yes I had to do the battery pull too! I failed on the first attempt, but got it on my second. You just have to be quick like ninja :batdroid:
