Help Can't select Hangouts notification sounds

Whenever I try to, going through the settings, I'm offered to select the sound using "Media Storage" or "Zedge". My first problem is that neither let me select a customized sound (which what I really want) but Zedge doesn't offer any sounds and when I use MS whatever I select doesn't take, and when I get back to the Hangouts setup page, the notification sound is "Silent".
I have the CyanogenMod installed, if that's connected.

For some reason my phone keeps switching out of the default profile and into "Silent". Weird.
