Can't send email "connection problem"

For a couple weeks, sending mail from xoom-fe or samsung tablets, get a message "connection problem" and it fails. Also what is "master sync"? It's turned off and I can't find it in help.

Is this on Kit-Kat ROMs? It looks like you just need to turn on sync. You should be able to find it under the system's settings. It may also be on a notification widget or through quick settings.

Have you been connected to Wifi?

If so try turning on and off the Wifi on the tablet and resetting the router in your house.

In the application settings there should be an option to turn on/off sync, which controls if your email shows new emails or not.
