Can't send emails with attachment

First Android Forum Post! :)

I've had my HTC Incredible S for just over a couple months now (running Android 2.2.1) and have recently tried sending emails with attachments without any success.

I am able to send text in my emails with my Gmail and Hotmail, as well as receive all types of emails, but can't send any emails with pictures, videos or even quick office documents with either email account.

Emails with attachments attempt to send for maybe 10 mins before a failure to send email notification pops up. Then the email remains in my outbox and when I try to open it, it says, "Email cannot be opened while it is sending."

Help! This is an extremely inconvenient issue :(

Welcome to Android Forums!

Are you sending via 3G or WiFi? I just sent a 500k .png file to myself using gmail over WiFi and it worked without a hiccup.

Over wifi, I could attempt it over 4G but I do most emails from home especially attachments in order to save data. Also, just managed to send a document containing one word about 45 mins later, but so far only that document and one pic has gone through, both taking ages to do so.

Sometimes when it takes a long time to resolve servers, I find there's something strange with the DNS. After making sure your accounts are set up properly, from the home screen go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>Wifi settings and long-press on the current network. Select forget. Then rescan and reconnect to the same network letting dhcp assign ip and dns settings. See if that improves your ability to send.

I get emails with pictures and they do not appear. Frustrating to read email where they talking about picture I am supposed to be viewing. Any help appreciated.
