Help Can't send texts since latest update (Moto Droid)

I installed the OTA flash-enabling update to Android 2.2 on my Motorola Droid. I had never had trouble sending texts, but since the update, the first 3 texts I sent came out with an upside down question mark between each character, and every text since then is stuck as "sending" indefinitely. They won't send, or produce error messages. Does anyone have this problem, or have any ideas for solving it?

Reboot your phone - if that does not work, then try doing a battery pull.

If that doesn't work, I am loathe to suggest it, but a factory data reset may be your next move....
