Can't send texts

I can receive texts but not send them. Everything was fine, then I took out my battery to check some info on it and when it started up again it wouldnt send any texts, everything else is fine. I restarted it, took the battery out again and nothing. I have an unlocked Verizon Galaxy S4 if that matters. Any help?
Also I just noticed that on my lock screen it says on service but I have bars....odd

As of Saturday my camera stopped then I lost service now I can't send text messages I have a unlocked s4 from Verizon I have had no issues until now and I been using this phone for over a year.

Try taking your battery out again and make sure you didn't accidentally unmount your sim card . You may have bumped it when you removed the battery .

Metro had known issues with texting very recently. Always check their handbook page when this happens. They ended up giving me a sizeable credit off my next bill.
