Help Can't set password

GGTyler

Lurker
I currently cannot set my Lock screen password because for some reason, I have to enter my current password even though I don't have one. I never set one, and my current lock type is swipe. Any suggestions?

Device Info
Samsung Galaxy J7
Android 6.0.1

Have you tried "0000" ? or how about turning off your lock screen settings, restarting your phone and trying again?

A few options can be found here also:

It doesnt work. And I'm not talking about getting thru my lock screen password, it's on swipe right now. The only problem is that when I try to set a new password it prompts me with the 'enter your current password' thing even though I don't have one. And it also doesnt even let me fit in my Google password.

I understand what you are trying to do, but I don't have many options left for you. Which network are you on?

Try using these passwords: 1234 - 1111 or 1210.

I have heard of this issue before, but for the life of me I cannot remember what the solution was besides the google reset option.
