I have tried both the Moto camera and the stock camera to no avail. I see the "rec" indicator briefly, hear a tone, then the recording turns off. Nothing gets saved. I do have an SD card and it is setup for both apps and data (there is 11GB+ free on internal memory, and about 20GB free on the SD card). Am running Marshmallow, am also unlocked and rooted.

Since your device is rooted, I moved your post here, since this will make a difference in answering your question. Members will want to know more info on your device, how was your device rooted, what recovery are you using, and what Rom are you on.
