Can't Stand the Stock Calender!

Jorte is free, syncs with your Google calendar, looks and works great! Been using it for years.

I like the application, but the print is too damn small and I cannot read it with my old eyes! **shakes fist*** contacts can only do so much!.

Trying A calendar..same small print!

OMG!! Has no one here tried Pocket Informant?? I have used it for years in many different phone formats. The Android format was just updated and is amazing. You can have the weekview and monthview show text of your appointments and it is the most like your Outlook calendar. I absolutely love it.....Give it a look and you won't be disappointed.

14 day trial version that scores 2 stars on the play store than have to pay $9.99 for the full version that still only scores 3.7?? Think I will have to pass on this one.

Try the 14 day trial....read the reviews...some of the complaints are for the heavy calendar users that have issues with the tasks sync with Google. This app works great for anyone needing a calendar to sync with Google Calendar and have an awesome customizable look to it. They have made tons of improvements as well and many have come recently.

will take a look, but ulitmately paying $10 for a calendar...seems steep to me. Will take a look though ;)

I just tried all the ones mentioned in this thread. I think that aCalendar seems to have the most going for it for the normal user. I couldn't figure out a way to invite attendees. I like CalenGoo as well but not sure I can figure out everything on it. Wish there was a trial mode (more than just 15 minutes). I stil like Pocket Informant for what I use it for. Price may be steep but worth it.

Reviews are from power users frustrated with some of the few limitations. Developer is somebody that likes feedback.

Does PI sync with outlook ok? Does enough data map over from outlook to be worthwhile?

Mine syncs with Google Calendar which syncs with my computer's MS Outlook. Kinda nice because it is so automatic, I never have to worry about my calendar at home being out of date. I think the new Android version of PI has some new Syncronization features but I have never tried them. It syncs with Pocket Informant Online and has a PI Wireless Desktop Sync too. Like I said, I've never tried it though.

I thought I already posted this, but looks like I didn't. I finally found one I like. Meshin. It's part of Evernote. It's clean, sleek and easy on the eyes. But, it too requires a calendar to work off of. I don't understand this. Can someone explain why apps like these display the information from "real" calendars? Why don't they just include a calendar within the app?
Meshin calls it's self a calendar but, like several others I've tried, when you add/manage events, it takes you to the stock calendar or Business calendar or whatever calendar you point to. Then, Meshin displays the information like this:

Isnt Meshin more of an agenda as opposed to a calendar?

I have settled on business calendar, seems the most user friendly and never has a problem synching up with my Google calendar.

I don't know. It's called "Meshin Calendar". So is that what all these apps are that work off a calendar? Agendas? They ALL call themselves calendars.
When looking for calendars in the app store, all these app would show up that actually need another calendar to display events.

I think most (if not all) calendar apps will feed off the stock calendar, simply because OEMs believe you want to sync your stuff with the Google Calendar. I had Smooth Calendar for years, but stepped up to Agenda Widget. The free version let's me customize the heck out of it to match whatever theme I have. But again, it does feed off the stock calendar, so when you add a new event, the stock window you hate so much will pop up.

I cant stand the stock calendar either.
I just installed Simple Calendar and cant figure out how to open it. These damn smart phones are better used as bricks(first smart phone, and it has almost taken more rides through window than phone calls).

All i need is a simple calendar that i can scroll up or down, left to right, and mark days with appointments. I dont need all the rest of the clutter. I am not a heavy G-mail user, calendar user, i just need to look at dates. Then have the ability to set times and alarms. Nothing more or less.

Pocket Informant can work off the Stock Android calendar, Google Calendar, or PI Event Calendar (which does come built into the app). It also now is able to sync with an online PI Calendar as well so if you forget your phone, you can still go online and update your calendar. Plus the different choices of Calendar Views is great!

Any of these have a widget that works like the HTC version? That's actually one of my favorite android widgets, a calendar widget that displays a full month and let's you flip through the months right in the widget. Do any of these, paid or free do that? Are there any launchers that have a built in widget that will do this?

I've used PI on widows, blackberry, and now android. I also have it on my iPad. I think it works great. It syncs with google, both calendar and tasks, Toodledo, outlook and the online PI. Keeps all my computers synced with my phone.
