Can't sync Droid to computer anymore?

Droid 1 running Android 2.2x
computer = Win7 pro

I used to sync fine. now my computer doesn't see it when I plug in the usb cable. that usb cable does does charge my phone though.

and it's the same usb cable I've been using all this time.

suggestions?

Did you try a different USB port on the Windows machine?

I don't have your phone. Does your phone have connection options for the USB cable when it is attached? Did you select the correct option? Which one did you select?

I fixed it.
turned off usb debugging mode.

but now another problem. I cant sync w/myphoneExplorer to sync outlook contact info to desktop.
(tried both debugging mode on and off.)

with debugging mode off, I can see the phone's SD card on my computer.
with debugging mode on, I cant see the SD card.
either way, I cant sync.

but it used to work before. I have sync'd before.

what's going on?!
