Help Cant Sync to PC

Not sure why but when I try to plug the DX into my PC It wont recognize it. Windows says its trying to install the driver but it fails. What am I doing wrong ? I have the phone set to PC Mode.
 
I just installed it on my W7 laptop with no issues. One thing I did NOT do was change anything on my phone. Try taking it off pc mode and let 7 see it as a device. It shows up in Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers/DroidX.

Oh, how cool! My laptop just told me I had a new text message on my phone! Too bad I can't read it form the laptop - or can I.....
 
No problems here either on Win7 x64. Just plugged the phone in and it prompted to install a Motorola driver (4.60 I believe).

Try a different usb port if you're using one on the front or side of your pc. It might need a powered one and those usually are not.
 
Mine will not work with win 7. If I select usb mass storage I see it in explorer but when I click on that drive it says "please insert a disk into removable disk G:". If I select windows media sync it fails installing the MTP drivers. If I select PC Mode I don't see anything at all in explorer.

How do you change phone off pc mode???
 
when u plug in the droid x drag down your notification bar for more options. PC Mode, usb mass storage, charge only or Windows sync (something like that)
