Hi, I have inbuilt tether feature in my phone and was working fine but now i can't tether after rooting motorola xt531. What to do now?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Because you have rooted I have moved your thread to the appropriate forum.

If you could provide just a little more information, it would allow us to help you better. When you say you had tethering, was it using a feature provided by your carrier or were you using Android's native tethering options? Were you tethering with a USB cable or using your phone as a Wifi hotspot? Fnally, what country are you in? In some countries (U.S. especially) tethering requires carrier plans to be enabled. Rooting may disable them.

Thanks for moving it to appropriate forum.

Yes i was using phone's inbuilt tethering option via usb earlier but now after rooting this device i can't tether anymore.

And i am from India.

Sorry for replying late i didn't get any notification in my email about your reply.

When you rooted your phone, did you enable USB debugging? That may prevent wired tethering from connecting.

Yes i had to because it was mandatory for rooting. Also i was on Ubuntu when i first tried tethering. Does windows 7 require any additional drivers to allow tethering?

Not that I know of.

Disable USB debugging now that you're rooted and see if tethering will work for you.
