Help Can't transfer files over MTP

Hi

I'm finding it impossible to transfer files from my Galaxy Nexus to my Windows 8.1 laptop.

My laptop appears to recognise the device fine, installs the drivers and I can open the drive in Windows Explorer, but when I get to copying the files, Windows gets stuck on "calculating the time required to copy the files" and doesn't ever copy them.

I have opened Device Manager and there are no exclamation marks, it has installed a Portable Device - Galaxy Nexus, a Samsung Android Phone - Samsung Android ADB Interface and a Universal Serial Bus Controller - Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device. All of these appear to be working correctly.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to solve it?

Thanks in advance!

If you have USB Debugging off, you shouldn't be seeing the ADB interface in Device Manager. That might mean Windows is using the wrong driver (which happens more often than it should, and Windows thinks its using the correct one so it won't throw an error).
