can't transfer files to and from external drive

Hi everyone
I was trying to transfer the images to and from the external pen drive or sd card, but I think its not possible in galaxy note? I have tried to transfer images from gallery to external drive but there is no provision like that. Am I correct?
If thats the case then how can I create a back up of the galaxy data apart from using dropbox etc online services?

If you mean that there's no way to transfer files using Gallery, I think you're correct. However, file transfer is usually done using either the built in app called My Files or other apps, like Astro, available via Play Store.

What you want to do is absolutely achievable using any one of those 'file manager' type apps.
 
The other problem I am facing with pen drive is the galaxy is able to detect the usb connector but when I am connecting my pendrives to the connector , galaxy is not able to detect the pen drives. Ihave tried my best to connect two different pen drives but it is the problem with both pen drives. I bought this usb connector from ebay, I must say it is not a genuine samsung one but since the tab is detecting the connector I dont think that connector is faulty. And pen drives are working in my laptop without any issue.
 
Did you use a file manager for to find the pen drive? Someting like USB or USB Storage

I use ES File Explorer which shows my a pen drive as 'USB' :)

File format on the usb drives?
