Help Cant turn of aeroplane mode

I have turned aeroplane mode on now, and for the life of me, i cant turn it off! its constantly on aeroplane mode no matter what i do.

Ive tried holding the power button and clicking aeroplane mode, but its greyed out and says that Aeroplane Mode is on. I know its on, i want to turn it off!!

When i go into Settings, then Wireless and NEtwork, Flight Mode is unticked meaning its not on, but i still have the aeroplane sysmbol in my notifications bar.

HELP!!

This is on my original Galaxy S, and NOT my Galaxy S3.

Im trying to get the phone working for my mother to have (nice son, i know!)

Managed to get it sorted by wiping to factory...
