Help Can't type in PDF

I have some protected PDF's that require a user ID and a password.

I can open them with Documents to go or Adobe Reader. However, I can not get the keyboard to pop up when I try to select the text field.

Any thoughts? Is it just not supported? This will greatly decrease my usefulness for a tablet.

Thanks.

PDFs are generally designed to not be edited, sort of a snapshot of the document that you know hasn't been changed (they are also generally much smaller than the Word document they were created from). There are PDF forms which allow input, but in most cases I think you'll have to find an editor that can convert the PDF and then resave as a new PDF.

I haven't checked but is there a PDF editor/creator out for Android yet? There is a camera app that will create a PDF from a picture of a document, but that's not quite the same thing.

PDF manuals is one of the big features I want in a tablet. Easy way to have all my help files and technical manuals with me.

Its Adobe Reader, its read only. There isnt a full Adobe editing suite out for tablets probably because its such a new market. Im sure as they become more common they will make them but its gotta be rewritten for the new architecture.

He has protected files, that he is trying to view. They require a password to view them. If it is prompting the fields to enter the password I don't know why It would not let you get they keyboard up. But I don't use those types of files.

As far as the quotes above, maybe for the common person or college kid you cannot edit them, but in corporate climates there are PLENTY of Adobe files that are read only with 'editable fields' that you enter your information in just before you print it. You just cannot save this information in the document unless you print it to a separate .pdf using a program like cutepdf.
