Help Can't type to save my life

I just got my note 2 in, upgraded from the iphone 3gs. Now I used to think typing on the iphone was tough.... until I got the note 2. I can't type on it at all, constantly hitting v instead of the space bar.

I'm wondering if mine could be faulty as I tried typing briefly in the store and seemed to do ok.

Anyone else have this bad experience with the keyboard? Tks

I checked out the free version , but it says it can use anything I type except for passwords and credit cards...... does the paid version do this?

I will say I'm typing better with swift key, but still much tougher than the iphone

Get used to swyping, swyping is the way to go. I forget what the samsung keyboard calls it, continuous input I think, but you phone should have come with swype as well. I got my mom an S3 for her birthday and she was coming from an iphone, and it used to pain me to watch her sit there and tap out messages. I taught her how to swype and she's so much faster now. She was even saying the other day how great the swype feature is and how she was showing it to my aunt who was wishing her iphone could do that.

I tried swipe and it was not much faster, but maybe I just need to practice with it. I dunno.... maybe mine is faulty... I'll go to the store and try one there to make sure....
I just went back to my iphone to test, and no question , it is 10x easier to typer on it then this one.

Swype is a lot of fun, I have it on my tablet, I suck at it because I don't practice
nearly enough, but I imagine one handed swiping on a phone
will be easier. I recommend swype.

3.5-4 typing to 5.5 is going to take some time. I used to type very fast on my Iphone 4s, but since I switched to the N2 I cannot type on my 5th gen ipod touch to save my life. Actually had someone ask if I was drunk because I didnt proof read my imessage.

Smart Keyboard Pro has a "calibrate" mode, wherein you type out the old "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" practice sentence. You're supposed to do it without worrying about anything but spelling, no thought of accuracy as to position of your thumbs or finger or nose or whatever you type with. :D

Anyway, after doing that calibration I noticed I no longer had to worry about making a v out of a b or a t out of a g, etc.

I must say, though, the swype-like function of the Samsung Note 2 version is really the very best once used for a while. I now use that with no second thought. Just had to get out of the habit of hitting the space bar after each word, as it does that for you. Over time it gets used to you, even nick names etc. :)

I couldn't imagine my life without some type of swiping keyboard. Using the iPhone was painfully cumbersome for me because I have long nails. I've no intentions of cutting them down just to use a phone so I invested heavily in different color Wacom Bamboo iStylus.
It may help your swiping skills if you practice first with the S Pen.

I bought swift key, but used Swype before that. They're so much better than the stock keyboard. The only part that bugs me at times is the programs assumption of the word it thinks I want. Small price to pay though....

This is why I always slow down every couple of sentences to read what I've swyped. I knows there's going to be plenty of wrong words.
As far as stock vs swype I prefer swype. It's predictions are better.

Sold my iPhone 5 and bought a Note 2 for cheap to hold me over until the next crop of devices. You are right. The iPhone keyboards are just amazing. They are responsive and just the right feel.

I've downloaded and tried every keyboard on the Note 2. All suck.

The stock keyboard doesn't have auto-correct. So I dumped it.
The Jellybean keyboard auto-correct was too invasive and the keyboard is inaccurate.
The Swiftkey keyboard felt ok but the theme and look was just bad.
