Root Can't update after rooting

Hi All,

This will likely be a noob question, and I've probably done something blantantly stupid, but I can't figure out what.
I have an HTC One S (type S4, z520e) running Android version 4.0.3. I've rooted my phone following this guide. I strayed a little from the procedure by working from a folder called C:\Download instead of C:\Android, but other than that I did exactly as described in the guide. And it all works, my phone is rooted, I have Superuser access for those applications that need it, works like a charm. When the phone boots, I do see the red text that says "This build is for development purposes only etc etc", but I'm told this is normal.

Yesterday however, Android 4.4 and HTC Sense 4.1 became available for my device. When I try to install it, it reboots the phone in recovery mode and I get the following error:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.1
Finding Update Package...
E:\unknown volume for path [INTERNALSDCARD: Download/OTA_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_EUROPE_2.31.401.5-1.78.401.2_release_275773ape8z1mahr0gt8fg.zip]
E:Can't mount INTERNALSDCARD: Download/OTA_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_EUROPE_2.31.401.5-1.78.401.2_release_275773ape8z1mahr0gt8fg.zip]
Installation aborted.
I could restore the stock recovery, but I don't want to have to do this every time a new Android version becomes available and I want to upgrade. Any help would be appreciated to allow me to stay rooted with a custom recovery AND have the ability to upgrade without having to restore the stock recovery.

Thanks!

You can't take an OTA with a rooted phone and custom recovery(at least with the One S). :( I would just wait a few days until they have a flashable zip for it for the custom recoveries.

Ha, I did not know that. Thank you for clearing that up for me. So I have the choice between restoring the stock recovery, upgrading and rooting again or waiting a few days and install a flashable zip. The latter option seems the easiest, so I'll go hunting for a zip in a few days. Thank you sir, this would have bothered me for days on end, thanks for clearing this up for me.

Here's a thread to flash the radio (I haven't tested it myself!) that I found. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30698236

The rest of the discussions that I have seen involve changing your CID, re-locking the bootloader, and flashing a RUU in order to flash the OTA.

A couple of the custom Sense Based ROMS have upgraded already (I tried out team venom's ViperOneS ROM, it's really nice), so you might want to give one of them a go.
