Hello I just bought an Alcatel One touch a995l it is running Android os 4.2

. It says I have a software update but when it goes to check for update in settings>about phone>software update it gives me thus error message "Authentication failed please contact your service provider". Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?.. I tried using wifi and not using wifi. Thanks.

It is not running 4.2. It is running 4.3.
Where did you buy it?
Was it carrier branded?
If so are you using it on that carrier?
Did you contact your service provider as instructed?

I bought it from my girlfriend.
Carrier : Straight talk
Yes I'm using straight talk sim and service with it.
I contacted them they said "we have updated things on our end just restart your phone and it will work" it failed to work.

i have the same phone and the same problem. my phone tho will also not read any sd card. i did get a new sim card and was told by straight talk that would fix all problems. it didnt. after spending 2 days on the phone with them they told me that they do not support android updates and to go online and get it voids the warrenty. so my phone is basically a paperweight. i cant even go to my bank website and texting is hit ir miss.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your carrier can do something
