Help can't update

I seen a couple custom roms for that device but nothing higher than 2.2.2 for that device at least stock. It could be hardware failure as far as the camera/video. I guess there is no real way to say one way or another without trying a custom rom.

For this, he will have to root his device, to install custom ROM.
