Help cant use emial or contacts after update help!

after i up dated my phone i cant use my emial or contacts and its driving me crazy since i cant figure out how to get them to work again. any one else have this problem and know how to fix it?
 
Wally recommended a factory reset. Clearing the cache data for email and contacts?
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Email / Contacts.
