Help Can't use SD card for app storage

Hi all,
So I have a LG K4 2017 with only 8GB's of internal storage. I have a 64GB micro SD card plugged into this phone and only certain apps can be moved to the SD card. There is no option for me to change the SD card to internal storage, but i heard this is possible on other Android smartphones.

Is there some way of achieving this on my phone otherwise?. Thanks.

The K4 shipped with Android 6.01 so when you first inserted the SD card, you should have been given the option to use it as removable or adoptable storage. Unfortunately LG chose to disable this feature in their phones claiming that users would be disappointed with app performance running from and SD card, as well as the fact that SD cards are prone to failure without warning which could cause important data loss. I don't totally disagree but I would have preferred to be given the option with a warning rather than not given the choice at all.

What that does is to use your SD card as an extended USER partition and make it available to both data and apps. The catch is the card is encrypted and shouldn't be removed from the phone from that point forward.

Of course there are workarounds. I found this for the LG G6, which runs Android Nougat (7.0) so the commands are a little different if you've upgraded to this version.

I also found similar instructions for the LG Stylo running Marshmallow (6.x) here which may or may not work for your phone. I've found little reference to the K4, but the instructions seem to be the same for all LG phones running Marshmallow.

Since I can't find specific instructions four your device, there is no guarantee that this will work and that it won't mess up your phone. You proceed at your own risk.

Thank you for this video, I'll take a look at this soon. I have a Samsung SD card and everything that can be moved to the SD card has been moved, but im still short on storage. I think ill just juggle with the "most important apps" until I can just get a new phone.

I have already rooted a Galaxy S4 which caused a non-stop reboot and I couldn't use the phone again. I don't want to mess anything up. If it was easier than what the video showed without any risks i guess i would be more convinced to try this trick. I'll think about it and thank you for the info lunatic59.
