Can't wait for RCS messaging

I have all the necessary updates, and I'm on Project Fi (you'd think Google would find a way to implement this service on Fi first), but I'm still waiting. I know other carriers need to get onboard. Any news about a timeline for that?

Apple continues to deny it will add support for RCS so I wouldn't hold my breath for it to become universally accepted as the new industry standard, completely replacing SMS/MMS. As promising as it is, at best it'll become an Android standard, but we'll still need SMS/MMS as the tenuous link between Android-Apple users.
