Help capacitive button lights

is ther.e anyway to lower/turn off the capacitive key lights so when ever I touch the screen it doesn't light up without breaking the light bulb ? it gets annoying and it just waste battery. I have root rights. I don't think this is possible but just wondering if it was

There are a few ROMs out there with kernels that address the timeout of the soft key lights. I've not seen any that disable them coming on with screen activation, though (that does not mean they don't exist somewhere for some devices).

I'm wondering if by now there is an app or two in Market with that capability. Maybe you can try a search on something like, "soft key lights," etc.
