Help Car dock mode

I bought a car dock recently and when I put my S3 into it I did not get what I expected. There are no shortcuts for navigation/maps. It just looks like a normal start screen with a couple tweaks. Am I missing a setting?

I use Car Widget Pro from Google Play. I've tried several and it's definitely the best one I found.
 
No, it's an iBOLT dock. I didn't find a Samsung dock when I was shopping around. Do they actually make one? Either way, this shouldn't have anything to do with the dock. It's software related. That indrive app looks promising.

It turns out I won't be able to use it in landscape mode anyway, at least not when I'm wearing polarized sunglasses. In landscape the display is much dimmer, similar to the iPad in portrait mode. Except in the iPad's case you can't see anything with sunglasses on.

I never had this issue with the Razr Maxx. Does it have to do with the S3's higher resolution?

I use Car Home Ultra. Does everything I wanted and more. One of only 3 apps I've paid for since I went android 3 phones ago. Give the trial version a go

What Badger said... Car Home Ultra is the app I use with both of my iBolt docks. Good dock and app.
 
I figured out how to disable that default "dock." Turns out it's called Page Buddy (screencap attached).

I installed inDrive first to give it a try and I can't get it to work. It opens up fine if I try it when it's not on the dock. But when I place it on the dock it won't come up and trying to run it from the app drawer just dims my screen and nothing happens.

Mike , i hope this helps - I too bought a ibolt car dock for my S3 , when i recieved it i spend days trying to get it to work , eventually i found a thread on another forum which explained the proiblem with the S3 and car docks - it is disabled in the kernel by default , so matter what you do it wont work , the only work around that was confirmed to work was to replace your stock kernel with the SIRAH kernel , i followed the instructions , took me about 10 mins , and hey presto my car dock and S3 work like a dream , i use it with the NAVIGON software for navigation and to play music through my car stereo .. but this led to a dire situation that only became apparent last week -- My S3 was running 4.1.1 and my S3 was one of the first off the production line , after replacing the kernel , kies no longer would talk to my phone and i could not update my 4.1.1 , i kept on putting off doing a work around update . but then last sunday while driving my phone switched off and refused to switch back on completely .. i have since found out something called SDS , suddern death sysndrome , it only occurs on and old S3 and 4.1.1 , but now i am waiting for samsung to replace my main board at my own cost as it is over a year old !!

I can't believe they would purposely design the phone not to work in a dock designed for it. Wow...

I have been using my ibolt with the S3 for over a year , it aways launched the stock samsung software which i never used as it requires a internet connection to work , so i just cancelled it and run the software i want ie . navigon ...
