Car Dock Navigation

So I've been poking around with ICS and was pleasantly surprised to see in the Car Dock menu that they have added a selection for Navigation. The only down side is, GPS does not automatically start when you select Navigation. Why in the world would they not program it to do that? If you select the "Maps" program the GPS starts up immediately. Right now I have to either remember to turn on GPS before putting it in the dock, or wait for the prompt to tell me "Hey dummy, you don't have GPS on"

Does anyone know if there is a setting in navigation for this? Maybe this is something to bring up to Motorola on their forums?

Thanks!

If you check under Location Services in System Settings, you might find that GPS is already enabled. During the phone setup I enabled my GPS options and left them on. The issue that I'm having is that the default car dock app is supposed to provide direction and speed in the home screen (if enabled in the app settings) and I don't see that happening. Anyone else seeing this issue?

You might consider making a Smart Action for the Navigation Dock to just automatically turn on your GPS once you hook up the Navigation Dock. I know I've got mine setup like that and works fine so far in Navigation and Maps, but I generally have my GPS set on most of the time anyways.

I haven't really played with my Navigation Dock and ICS yet. I know that the Motorola Car Finder app is getting on my nerves though. I disconnected the dock and it saved where the car was. So like every half hour for a while it kept saying the position was saved and if I wanted to add a note or picture. So might be a bug there to work out or I just need to adjust something. Other than that though, the little testing I did today seems good.

Fantastic idea! it is right there and so simple. I just got it set up and will test this evening. Thanks!

So ran the dock and car finder again today and it didn't ask me over and over to save the parking spot this time. :-) But what I did notice is it automatically opened the phone dialer when the dock was hooked up. Did the same with my HD Station. A new feature I'll have to figure out how to disable. Lol.
