After seeing 3800scpowered's car dock on androidcentral I decided to try and do something similar for the dash of my 1999 Rodeo, below are the pics of what I came up with. I used ABS plastic for mine, it's easier for me to get ahold of and work with. I also purchased a car charger, a power port and put it behind the head unit to free up my inverter and power port.
To start with I had to switch the location of the head unit and the pocket. The hardest part was actually attaching the car dock to the pocket. After this step I simply cut some plastic pieces to fill the gaps of the pocket. Using my Dremel I cut a hole in the top of the pocket to run the charging wire into the back of the dock. I put some "dumb gum" around the connector on cable to hold it in place.
Then I cut a section of plastic to use as a back plate for support and to put some tabs on to hold it in place.
Once again thanks to 380scpowered's original idea of using the desktop dock in the car.
