Root Carbon ROM Bootloop

saltire

Android Expert
Hmm, fancied a change so tried to flash Carbon (stable 1.8 release) after wipe in TWRP. Didn't format system as i've had problems before with keyboard FCs and can't get anything setup.

Flashed ROM then gapps but got stuck in boot loop at Carbon boot animation each time.

Gave up and restored nandroid.

Anyone else had this, any suggestions as to what else to try?

Think so, thought the default wipe in TWRP does caches, sys and data. Never had any issues before with other ROMs. Maybe i need to take a look at the advanced wipe options.

Was also thinking of trying a later gapps package as well, just in case version I had was for 4.2 as think Carbon is 4.3.

Thanks guys, think wrong gapps was the issue. Although I couldn't see anything about even having to flash gapps on the xda post or the too page, let alone which version to use.

Also seems some have a boot problem anyway, fix seems to be reboot in safe mode for first setup and should be OK afterwards. Job for the weekend.

It's hard to tell with many roms these days if they need gApps. Many of the ones I've tried are tweaked versions of the stock rom, so have gApps included with an Aroma (interactive) installer.
